Homewood (3-1, 2-0) survived an exhilarating matchup with the Calera Eagles in week four, pulling out a win despite the Eagles’ star wide receiver Braylyn Farington tacking on five overall touchdowns. If this defensive tumble is any indication of how the Patriots’ week 5 matchup will go, it will be another invigorating battle.

The Benjamin Russell Wildcats (3-0, 1-0) travel to Waldrop Stadium, to take on the Patriots in their annual homecoming game.

On the Homewood side, Woods Ray is once again the offensive key. Ray was named the AHSAA athlete of the week, as he led the Patriots to a second half comeback. Ray finished throwing for 16 for 26 completions, 354 yards, along with 68 yards and one rushing touchdown.
Defensively, the Patriots had a rocky performance last week.

Against Calera, Homewood gave up 38 points to a team who had previously failed to break 14. One of the teams to defensively stifle Calera was Benjamin Russell, holding them to six points in Week 3. The Patriots defense will have to contain a versatile offensive piece in Malcolm Simmons, who can line up in or outside the back field. Corri Milliner leads the Wildcats in receiving yards per game and total touchdowns.

The Wildcats will be a test for the Patriots as Benjamin Russell enters as 4-point favorites, but they have proven they can win as underdogs before. In week three, Homewood upset Helena as 20-point underdogs.
