As trends from 2025 fade, the trends of 2026 flourish into a diverse plethora of design and personal style.
As each year comes to an end, there is a quick turn around into what the new “vibe” will be. For instance, the declaration of the new year aligned with a comeback of 2016. Filters, staged photos, high waisted skinny jeans, and full-beat makeup are the new staples of 2026. Oddly enough, this new trend is a complete 180 from 2025’s “clean girl aesthetic”, incorporating minimalistic design, makeup, and an overall healthy and almost sterile look.
Now to say whether these quick transformations are linked to the fast fashion curated by social media companies or a mirror to the state of society is questionable. Moreover, quick trends are mostly seen inside the bubble of social media applications such as TikTok, Instagram, and Pinterest, rarely do we ever see entire rebrands of personal style.
Here are some of our staff’s predictions for 2026:

Zayna Islam said “Loud prints are in and athletic wear is out” explaining that people are more open to expressing themselves rather than the lack of diversity in athletic wear.

Campbell Hudson said “Rocket League is in and quarter zips are out”. A few months ago, men’s fashion took a turn towards a more “preppy” look, quarter zips and khakis as an internet trend, looking more academic and professional.

Kennedy Watkins said “Big hair is in and minimalism is out”. As 2025 marked a slow death for minimalism, as of 2026, it will be officially out. No more boring walls, no trace of personality throughout the house and no more sterile makeup. As for what will trend in 2026, big hair has already made a couple comebacks as a sense of eccentricism, almost combatting minimalism.

Miyelani Mathebula said “spreadsheets, semicolons, and being resilient is in”, explaining that data visualization is increasingly becoming an important part of communicating in our digital age. To her, “mullets, texting ‘k’, and saying yes to everything is out.” She passionately believes the mullet trend should be dead, stating that given we are over halfway through the 2020s, the fad should not be the defining hairstyle of the decade. She also hates dry texters.
Sports Editor, Harris Buck predicts that “TV is out and podcasts are in” for 2026. Buck is the co-host of the newly founded Three-Points Podcast, focusing on student interests and achievements.
Manar Almansoob said “teens being informed on politics is in and clean girl makeup is out”. Political division has defined 2026 as an era of polarization, teens have become more and more informed on politics, ultimately encouraging progressive conversations.
Tae Ro said “Physical media is in and cheetah print is out”. In a world of streaming, physical media struggles to survive, vinyl, CDs, DVDs,VHS. Streaming services don’t capture the same feel as a vinyl, something you can touch and physically hold. Vinyl is becoming increasingly popular as powerful music services like Spotify use AI artists to make songs, upsetting the music community.
