With the 50th anniversary of the Homewood Patriot marching band, the word “tradition” has followed the organization all year long. On Thursday night, another tradition returns. 

The Homewood Patriot Marching Band, Star Spangled Girls, Patriot Guard and Show Choir will showcase their months of preparation as their annual holiday spectacular takes place. 

“It’s going to be special,” said senior drum major Russell Dearing. “Bringing every Performing Art at Homewood High School together is a treat for those in the audience and those performing.” 

Band Director Chris Cooper shared similar excitement. 

“The show has been going on since the 80s, and it is my favorite every year,” shared Cooper. “The kids love seeing months of preparation come together.”

The show features various holiday-themed music, including classics like “Carol of the Bells,” “Baby It’s Cold Outside,” and “Hanukkah oh Hanukkah”, along with a new number, “Winter Wonderland,” which will be performed by the Starlets.   

Not only will viewers enjoy these holiday performances, but they will also spectate a unique continuous show.  

“In between acts, the chamber winds group will sit down in the orchestra area and play,” Cooper said. “This keeps the atmosphere alive while the main acts prepare.” 

The show starts at 7 p.m. in the Homewood High School auditorium and admission is free.
