Halloween is a fun time to dress up with friends; along with that comes some funny memories. We all have embarrassing or funny costume moments from the past so, to celebrate Halloween this year, the Tricorne staff brings to you some of our old costumes!
My mom always made us rad, homemade costumes. Sometimes you have to wear the older sibling’s hand-me-downs, of course, but I’m pretty sure this sorcerer outfit was all mine! From the pointy hat, to the golden lining and the chorded belt, this was one of my favorite childhood costumes. The grease pencil eyebrows of course are the finishing touch. I will, say, however, removing the fake goatee that was adhered with Spirit Gum was the worst part of wearing this bad boy.
I was 3 here; my mom used to go try hard with all of my costumes and homemade them. This is a prime example. I was Little Bo Peep, and not pictured was my 7 month old brother dressed as a sheep. I’m sure I hated it at the time, but looking back it’s obviously really cute.
I was queen of peace signs because I was too cool to just be a hippie. I was 7 years old. My grandmother handmade my dress and headband, and my neighbor handmade the peace sign necklace above the large pink decorative necklace.
I was the tooth fairy because I had just lost my first tooth and was so excited. I was 6 years old and my mom handmade my costume and all my accessories including a purse, wand and a tooth necklace.
This costume was from 2012, I was 4 and obsessed with Katy Perry, so I was her from the “California Girls” music video. I think all of this was homemade; We hot glued cupcakes on a white shirt and made the tutu ourselves. In hindsight, I was probably much too young to see that music video, but I’m glad I did because now I have this gem.
This photo is from 2012 when I was 4. At the time, I absolutely loved the color pink, but I also wanted to be a witch for Halloween. This is my mom and I’s attempt at making me the pinkest witch possible. Looking back, the wig was a questionable choice, I was happy.

When I was 5, my mom made me be Pippi Longstockings and dye my hair orange. I locked myself in the bathroom and cried because I had to wear a hairnet. She then put hangers in my hair, which resulted in more crying.
I was a football player here and I just finished playing in my third grade flag football tournament earlier that day; it only made sense for me to go as a football player, considering I had a Alabama helmet I got the previous year.
I was 1 or 2 years old when I wore this costume. My mom is a doctor and she has always had dreams of me being a doctor in the future. My parents dressed me in this costume and I wore all the accessories including a stethoscope and a pressure cuff.
My mom decided to dress me up as burger for my first Halloween. I had just turned two and learned how to walk, so she took me trick or treating for the first time as well that year.
