The perfect outfit doesn’t have to be a hassle to find. Wednesday Wear is our weekly segment featuring popular clothing trends and fashion pieces curated by our staff, so you can find statement pieces that you like without going far.
Each week’s update will include a “Highlight of the Week” showcasing student outfits around the school that catch our eye. Be on the lookout for us, and we might feature you and your piece next, or message us, and you can nominate one of your friends to be the next week’s highlight.

To begin, we have the Navy Blue Wash Zip-Up by Klenam. It includes a vintage, distressed look with a distinct wavy sun.

There is an emblem in the top right corner of the jacket that is inspired by the early 2000s surfer and skater aesthetic. It features somewhat of a Y2K look, but also includes aspects of the Klenam logo. Another key feature of this piece is the bold logo featured on the zipper, making it easier to grab and giving it a more personalized feel. It isn’t super heavy of a zip-up, making it a perfect staple for the Alabama fall at $89.99 with 4 different colors.
Our second item this week is the Dirty Wash Jacket by Peaceful Saints. It is a baggy grey zip-up with a distressed look and a few distinct frayed cuts throughout. More predominantly, the big star cross symbol is a parody of the Chrome Hearts logo. The cross expands outward in all four of its limbs, getting wider the farther they go out. This design was started with the company in the late 80s and has represented the luxury brand since, with most of their products are over $400.
The resurgence of Chrome Hearts also represents the increased popularity of thrifting culture in recent years. Now, finding any Chrome Hearts apparel can mean the item is a very valuable piece, especially if it hails from the early 90s. Inside the logo, there is a warm-toned design, bringing the eye up from the grey of the rest of the jacket to the Peaceful Saints logo embedded in the middle of the cross.
If you want more, however, there are matching sweatpants with the same Chrome Hearts logo down the side, but with a rope for a drawstring and many more distressed cuts at the bottom. Price-wise, they are both $75 each, so if you need something to keep you warm and stylish, this is a great purchase. Personally, though, this looks like a great airport fit.

Our most curious item this week is the Iconic Braided Brown Sneaker by Scuffers. This item might be most representative of the most recent trends and have the most “braided” inspirations. Obviously, they include the braided design throughout, but design-wise, the sneakers include a big, folded tongue and the popular cleat fit. This big tongue of the shoe has more recently become popular through the wave of more decorative shoes in style.
At the same time, the leather of the shoe also plays a big part. It is inspired by the recent resurgence of loafers in popular fashion and is being worn alongside street-wear looks. On the other hand, it is also inspired by the form of cleats. This is a more recent craze where the look and shape of soccer cleats are being put into everyday sneakers and streetwear aesthetics.

It is one of Scuffers’ newer releases at a price of $249, with two other colors. They are a great statement piece if you are into the loafer look and a definite buy if you like to have a varied shoe rotation.
Finally, we have the Highlight of the Week. This week, Wayland Agresta is our fashionista, and we caught him wearing the Empyre Paola Blue Hoodie by Zumiez. It is a bright blue color with a large embroidered “E” on the front. It also includes white drawings and designs covering the front. It is inspired by the Y2k look, but this has more details of recent streetwear trends like the spider-web designs and roses.
On the sleeves, the hoodie includes big lettered words down the length of the sleeves as well as a heart design on the back of the hood, drawing the eye to the front and the back of this bright hoodie. It is a great find for anyone who loves a bright piece, or maybe you are just trying to brighten up your wardrobe. For $64.94, it is definitely going in my cart.
