The Birmingham Bike Club hosted its annual century ride Sept. 7. The ride included many different miles, but the main ride was the 100-mile ride.
Riders started at the Old Mill Square Park and circled around the city of Columbiana, ending back at the park with free food and an electrotherapy booth waiting to help the riders recover. The ride also featured a variety of other stands, including a print stand and one that appeared to be filled with bells to cheer the riders on.
This race, while not the biggest in terms of attendance, still hosted around 200 people and approximately 40 more walk-ins during the ride.
Throughout the ride, the riders would stop at many rest stops to refuel and take a break for the next miles. Many volunteers helped out at these different stops and cheered the riders on throughout. One of the specialties from these stops was the pickle juice shots, as well as the assorted sandwiches made by the volunteers. There were other food items like oranges and bananas for cramps, but seeing the riders try to take down a whole shot of pickle juice was definitely the funniest.
